Who we are?
The Community Engagement Unit (CEU) facilitates community engagement opportunities that enhances and promotes the scholarship of engagement through equitable partnership and citizenry to promote sustainable communities.

Our commitment to Community engagement and sustainable community development is reflected in the history and ethos of the University of the Western Cape. As this university embraces its proud history in the struggle, it is also committed to link this proud past to an exciting future grounded in excellence and relevance.

The institutionalisation of the unit stems from the fact that there are various models of teaching and learning employed by our institution that seek to facilitate the development of social responsibility and active citizenship in our graduates and therefore recognising community engagement as the term that embraces all of these models is more reflective of our ethos.
